Lincoln, Neb. – Northwestern wrestling hits the road again for a Big Ten matchup on Sunday, February 8 at 1 p.m. CT, as the Wildcats travel to Lincoln to face No. 5 Nebraska. The dual will be streamed on B1G+.
LAST TIME OUT
Northwestern spent last weekend in Michigan, earning six individual victories across two duals but coming up short in both team results–a 38-4 loss at No. 10 Michigan on Friday and a 22-20 setback at Michigan State on Sunday.
Graduate student Sean Spidle opened the weekend with momentum at 133 lbs, posting an 8-0 major decision over Michigan's Gauge Botero to put the Wildcats on the board first in Ann Arbor.
On Sunday in East Lansing, No. 23 Dedrick Navarro continued his standout sophomore season with a 2-1 decision over Nick Corday at 125 lbs, using a late second-period reversal to seize control. At 141, No. 31 Billy Dekraker delivered bonus points in a big way, building a commanding lead before recording his first fall of the season against Jace Morgan.
Northwestern closed the dual with three straight wins, highlighted by back-to-back major decisions from No. 30 Eddie Enright (174 lbs) and J.D. Perez (184 lbs). Enright cruised to a 19-6 major decision over Owen Segorski–his fourth Big Ten dual win of the year, with three coming for bonus–while Perez capped the rally with an 12-2 major decision over Ryan Boucher, his third conference dual win and fifth bonus-point win this season. In the middle of the lineup, Jacob Bostelman notched his first-career Big Ten dual victory at 165 lbs, scoring a late takedown in the final seconds to earn a 3-1 decision.
SCOUTING NEBRASKA
Nebraska enters Sunday ranked No. 5 with one of the Big Ten's most complete lineups top to bottom. The Cornhuskers most recently faced No. 1 Penn State on the road last Friday, claiming three bout victories in a 26-12 setback to the top-ranked Nittany Lions.
At 141 lbs, No. 4 Brock Hardy produced the highlight of the night, battling back from an early deficit before securing a third-period pin (5:55) over No. 12 Braeden Davis. Nebraska also picked up a marquee win at 157 lbs, where No. 5 Antrell Taylor edged No. 3 PJ Duke in a 2-1 tiebreaker decision.
