EVANSTON, Ill. - After two dominant road shutouts to improve to 8-0, No. 1 Northwestern field hockey's Juliana Boon and Ilse Tromp have earned Big Ten honors. The conference announced the weekly accolades on Monday afternoon, recognizing Tromp and Boon's performance on the turf over the weekend.

Boon, the Wildcats' redshirt first-year goalkeeper, was named Defensive Player of the Week, bringing home the award for the second time this year.

Junior back/midfielder Tromp tallied five goals on the East Coast trip, pushing the 'Cats offense to victory and earning Offensive Player of the Week.

Defeating Delaware, 4-0, and Villanova, 5-0, the Wildcats reached six shutouts on the 2025 season, following up a program record 14 shutouts in 2024. The 'Cats defense on the field has been elite, holding opponents to 50 shots to NU's 150.

When she does face a shot, Boon's efficiency in the cage establishes her as a leader in the Big Ten and NCAA. Now with 23 saves and only two goals allowed, Boon holds a goals allowed average of 0.25. She leads the conference in minutes played (483), GAA (0.25), save percentage (.920), wins (seven), and shutouts (six). On the weekend, Boon allowed zero goals with eight saves.

Earning her second-ever conference award (Freshman of the Week, 10/9/23) and first Offensive Player of the Week, Tromp's five goals on the weekend put up a dominant offensive performance on the road. Notching her first career hat trick, the junior played a key piece in the two victories, scoring a total of 10 points.

The No. 1 'Cats have outscored their opponents this season 26-2, while Tromp leads the squad in points (16). After the Sunday win, Tromp is atop the Big Ten in game-winning goals (three), tied only with fellow 'Cat Grace Schulze. She is also third in the league in goals, having scored more than half of her season total this past weekend. The last Wildcat to win the Offensive Player of the Week award was Ashley Sessa (Nov. 4, 2024).
