Wildcats Sweep Eastern Washington to Move to 2-0 on Season

LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Northwestern volleyball improved to 2-0 on the season Saturday afternoon, sweeping Eastern Washington in the second of three matches at LionTree Arena. The 'Cats held the Eagles under 20 points in all three sets, winning 25-11, 25-13, 25-18.
It was a full-team effort for the Wildcats, who saw nine different players record at least two kills in the match. Campbell Paris, Kathryn Randorf and Lily Wagner led the way with seven apiece, while first-year Bella Bullington put in another strong effort with six kills of her own. On the defensive end, Bullington also recorded five digs, while first-year Kayla Kauffman led the blocking effort for the second straight match, notching a team-high four rejections.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Wildcats took control of set one at 5-4 and never trailed from there, going on to win 25-11. Northwestern collected 18 kills in the set, including four each from Bullington and Wagner. The 'Cats also grabbed four points from the service line, with four total aces in the first frame.
SET 2 | Northwestern got off to a hot start in set two, opening with a 7-0 scoring run on Rylen Reid's serve. Alongside three aces from Reid, Randorf ran off three kills before the Eagles got on the board. Northwestern didn't slow down from there, and went on to take the set 25-13.
SET 3 | Northwestern then finished off the match with a victory in set number three. After the Eagels battled closely to begin, the 'Cats ran off a 9-1 run to put themselves up 12-7 - a lead they would never relinquish. Paris led the offense across the finish line with five third-set kills, including match point in a 25-18 set-three victory.

» First-year libero Lauren Dignan saw her first collegiate action in Saturday's match; she chipped in three digs in her debut.
