Northwestern’s five selections lead the Big Ten

EVANSTON, Ill. (July 29, 2025) – On Tuesday, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced that five members of the Northwestern University men's golf team earned Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors. This impressive showing not only led the Big Ten Conference but also placed the Wildcats among just 24 NCAA Division I schools with at least five recipients.

Senior Cameron Adam (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston Castle School), juniors Daniel Svärd (Jarfalla, Sweden/Celsiusskolan Uppsala) and Ethan Tseng (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal), and sophomores Niall Shiels-Donegan (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) and Archie Finnie (Edinburgh, Scotland/Stewart's Melville College) were honored for their work both on the course and in the classroom. All five student-athletes also earned Spring Academic All-Big Ten honors.

To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
