Nguyen Earns Top 10 Finish, ‘Cats Place Sixth at Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Lauryn Nguyen (T8th, +3, 73-70-73=216) led the way for the Wildcats and the team finished tied for 6th as Northwestern Women's Golf continued their spring season this week at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The tournament, which ran March 3-5, featured a strong field, including 12 teams ranked in the Top 25 of the most recent Clippd Poll.
The 'Cats, ranked 10th in the nation, played their best golf on Tuesday – day two of the event – shooting a team tally of 288 at the par-71, 6,413-yard Long Cove Club to finish with a 54-hole total of 881 (298-288-295).
Nguyen also had her best round on Tuesday, carding three birdies, all on the front nine. It was Nguyen's fourth Top 10 finish of the season.
No. 22 LSU (289-288-286=863) claimed the team title for the second time in three years. Arkansas' Kendall Todd and South Carolina's Louise Rydqvist both carded a one-under-par 212 to share individual medalist honors. South Carolina and Arkansas rounded out the top three on the team front.

The 'Cats will head west to Arizona to compete in the PING/ASU Invitational, March 28-30, in Phoenix. The team is hoping to three-peat, as they have won the event the past two seasons. Last year, NU finished atop a deep field to win the team title by three strokes over Cal, UCLA & host Arizona State.
