Wildcats Head West, Look to Three-Peat at PING/ASU Invitational

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Northwestern Women's Golf returns to the course this weekend, heading out west to take part in the PING/ASU Invitational. The event runs from Friday (March 28) to Sunday (March 30) in Phoenix, Arizona. Live scoring will be available all three days via Scoreboard.
 
The Wildcats return to Arizona in pursuit of their third consecutive victory at the event, winning the team title in both 2023 (recap) and 2024 (recap). Last year, Ashley Yun was recognized as the Ann Votik Award winner, which recognizes the top freshman on the individual leaderboard. In 2023, graduate student Kelly Sim won her second PING/ASU title (2021).
 
The 'Cats are set to tee off at 10:14 a.m. CT on Friday and will be paired with Arizona State and University of California, Berkeley.
 
The Field
The #12 ranked 'Cats round out a 13-team field that also includes host-school and #9 ranked Arizona State, #21 Kansas, Abilene Christian, FAU, Grand Canyon, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Pepperdine, Tulsa, University of California, Berkeley, and UCLA.

Northwestern returns to the par-72 6,586-yard Papago Golf Course in Phoenix, Arizona.

Last Time Out
Nguyen (T8th, +3, 73-70-73=216) led the way for the Wildcats and the team finished tied for sixth as the team continued their spring season at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. It was Nguyen's fourth Top 10 finish of the season (recap). 
 
Three 'Cats to Compete at ANWA
Nguyen, Elise Lee and future Wildcat Arianna Lau will compete at the sixth edition of the Augusta National Women's Amateur (ANWA) April 2-5 in Georgia. The first and second rounds of the ANWA will be held at Champions Retreat Golf Club. A cut will take place after 36 holes, advancing the leading 30 players and ties to the final round at Augusta National Golf Club. The ANWA, one of the premier amateur events, will be nationally televised on Golf Channel.
 
This marks Nguyen's second consecutive ANWA appearance and the first for Lee and Lau, who is set to begin at NU prior to the start of the 2025-26 academic year.
 
Up Next
Northwestern heads to California in pursuit of another three-peat, returning to the Silverado Showdown in Napa, where the 'Cats have won the last two titles as a team. The event runs April 7-9 and will be the team's final tournament before the Big Ten Championships.
