EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern Women's Tennis (8-6, 1-1 B1G) continues conference dual play at home this weekend against two ranked Big Ten foes in No. 58 Nebraska and No. 49 Iowa. The 'Cats welcome the Cornhuskers on Friday for a 4:30 p.m. CT start before the Hawkeyes visit Evanston for a midday Sunday matchup beginning at noon.
Northwestern split last weekend's slate against No. 17 Wisconsin and No 60 Minnesota in the first taste of conference action. The Badgers defeated the Wildcats Friday, but Sunday's matchup against the Gophers went down to the wire, with Britany Lau picking up the decisive win at No. 3 singles to secure a 4-3 'Cats win - her second match-clinching singles victory of the season.
Sydney Pratt improved to 9-0 in singles dual action with a victory in Minneapolis. Also undefeated in singles action is Neena Feldman, who recorded her eighth dual singles victory of the year against Minnesota and her third consecutive victory from the No. 6 spot.
The 58th-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers (10-3, 0-2 B1G) saw a six-match winning streak snapped last weekend, dropping both dual matches against No. 4 Michigan and Michigan State. Up to that point, Nebraska had only one blemish on its record: a loss to No. 25 Baylor on January 31. Northwestern has won each of its last 12 matches against Nebraska dating back to the 2013 season, including - most recently - a 4-3 victory in the 2024 Big Ten Tournament.
No. 49 Iowa (7-4, 1-1 B1G) will travel to Champaign to battle No. 46 Illinois before arriving in Evanston on Sunday. The Hawkeyes also enter the weekend fresh off a loss to No. 4 Michigan last Sunday. Up to that point, Iowa had won five of the previous six, with the only loss coming on February 22 against Kansas State. Northwestern enters Sunday's meeting with a strong advantage in the all-time series, claiming victory in each of the last 35 meetings. The last time the 'Cats fell to the Hawkeyes was over two decades ago, in 1992.
Following this weekend, the 'Cats finish up their homestand by welcoming two west-coast foes in Washington and Oregon on March 22 and March 24 respectively. The Saturday matchup with the Huskies is scheduled for a noon CT first serve, while Monday's meeting with Oregon is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. CT.
