2/1/2025 7:25:00 PM | Women's Tennis
EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern women's tennis continues its homestand on Sunday afternoon in Combe Tennis Center, where they're set to host Georgia Tech for a non-conference dual. First serve between the 'Cats and the Yellow Jackets is scheduled for noon CT.
Head coach Claire Pollard's squad enters play with a perfect 3-0 home record through the first two weekends of play. The 'Cats opened the season with a sweep of Butler, then kept the streak up with a pair of 4-0 sweeps of DePaul and Eastern Illinois in a doubleheader sweep last Sunday. Northwestern has yet to allow a visiting team on the scoreboard at Combe, while eight of the nine 'Cats who have appeared in dual action so far have won at least one match in singles or doubles play.
Visiting Georgia Tech holds a 4-2 record after defeating Illinois 4-3 on Friday in Champaign and falling to Arizona 4-0 at ITA Kickoff weekend last Friday in Malibu, California. The Yellow Jackets' only other loss came at the hands of No. 1 Georgia, who defeated them 4-0 on January 17. In the ITA's post-fall doubles rankings, Georgia Tech duo Alejandra Cruz and Given Roach earned a No. 54 placement.
The last time these two teams met was almost exactly a year ago, when then-No. 23 Georgia Tech came out on top of a narrow 4-3 victory in Atlanta.
Sunday's match is Northwestern's last before hosting the ITA Indoor Team Championships next weekend in Evanston, with play beginning on Friday, February 7. Team site selections have been released, but draws are still to be announced. Tickets for the event are on sale now!
