MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Northwestern's Swimming and Diving team wrapped up the regular season on Friday and Saturday against Minnesota and Purdue in a tri-dual meet in Minneapolis. The event, held at Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center, saw the 'Cats win eight events, led by David Gerchik and Cade Duncan each winning multiple races. Both of the 'Cats swimming teams defeated Purdue – the women 200-153 and the men 192-161. Both teams were defeated by the Gophers – the women 241-112 and the men 232.5-120.5.

Gerchik (46.07) won the 100 back on Friday, the 200 back (1:41.82) on Saturday and anchored the victory in the 400 free relay (2:52.21). His win in the 100 back was by the slimmest of margins over teammate Stuart Seymour (46.08).

Duncan, similarly, won one race on Friday – the 50 free (19.97) – another on Saturday – the 100 free (43.03) – and contributed to the 400 free relay.

On Saturday, the women's team started the day by winning the 200 free relay. Lindsay Ervin, Nikki Venema, Audrey Yu and Amy Pan (1:29.48) won an exciting race by narrowly edging out their opponents from Minnesota (1:29.55).

NU finished 1-2 in the 100 breast with Maggie Papanicholas (1:00.35) coming out on top. Northwestern first-year Sophie Martin (1:01.38) placed second. Martin (52.34) then won the 100 fly.

Diego Nosack (1:43.35), who won Big Ten Swimmer of the Week after his performance in Wisconsin, had two notable second place finishes – the 200 fly (1:43.35) and the 400 IM (3:48.25), in which he was out-touched by 0.03 seconds.

NU's relay team of Duncan, Seymour, Connor Schuster and Gerchik bookended the day by winning the 400 free relay.

The 'Cats close the regular season with the men's team 8-1 and the women's team 6-3.
