Wildcats Wrap Fall Schedule at TCU and Michigan State

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern women's tennis wrapped up their scheduled fall slate this weekend in East Lansing, Mich., and Fort Worth, Texas, as the team split to compete at the Spartan Invite and the Jae Foundation Fall Open.

Four Wildcats competed at Michigan State, facing competition from the hosting Spartans as well as Ohio State, Iowa, Eastern Michigan, DePaul and Butler. Sydney Pratt fared well in singles, picking up a pair of straight-set victories on Friday and Saturday. Autumn Rabjohns and Katya Shepherd Johnson both also went 2-1 in singles play on the weekend, contributing to seven total singles victories for the 'Cats.

In doubles action, the duos of Shepherd Johnson and Jennifer Riester as well as Rabjohns and Pratt both picked up two wins in East Lansing. Both pairings downed one opponent each from Eastern Michigan and Butler.

At TCU, the rest of the Wildcat roster took on a mix of opponents from a number of southern schools. First year Maia Loureiro went 3-1 in individual action, improving her fall singles record to an impressive 9-2. Britany Lau picked up two singles victories as well, giving her a 6-3 record in fall action so far.

In doubles play, Lau and partner Mika Dagan Fruchtman picked up a 6-2 victory over a pairing from Oklahoma in their final weekend tune-up before participating in ITA Sectionals next weekend.

Overall, the 'Cats won eight singles victories and two doubles victories in three days in Forth Worth.

For the majority of Northwestern's roster, this weekend concluded fall play. Dagan Fruchtman and Lau will continue their quest for NCAA Tournament qualification next weekend at the ITA Central Sectional, held in Ann Arbor, Mich. Play begins Thursday, Nov. 7 and continues through Sunday, Nov. 10.
