STORYLINES:
• Saturday is the first-ever meeting between Northwestern and Indiana State.
• QB Hunter Johnson posted career numbers in completions (30), attempts (43), yards (283) and touchdowns (3) in the season opener and 10 different Wildcats caught passes – the most since the 2018 Big Ten Championship Game.
WR Bryce Kirtz finished with a career-high seven receptions and led the team with his career-high 80 receiving yards. WR Stephon Robinson Jr. finished his first game as a Wildcat with 79 receiving yards and a touchdown. Robinson Jr. averaged 15.8 yards per reception, the highest average for a Wildcat receiver in a season opener with at least five receptions since Dan Vitale and Christian Jones averaged 20.2 and 18.8 yards per reception, respectively, in the 2013 season opener. TE Trey Pugh posted career-highs in receptions (4) and touchdowns (2).  Pugh is the first Wildcat Tight End to score two touchdowns since Garrett Dickerson caught two passes in the end zone on Nov. 18, 2017 against Minnesota.
