'Cats Christen New Patten Gym With Sweep

EVANSTON, Ill. – In its first competition as a program at the new Patten Gymnasium, Northwestern fencing went undefeated in Sunday's tri-dual. The Wildcats took down Wayne State and Lawrence twice each to go 4-0 on the day.
The 'Cats dropped only six bouts as an entire squad on the day, highlighted by an impressive 28-2 showing from the foil group.
"It was really exciting to get to host our first home competition and our first ever competition in the new Patten gymnasium!" head coach Zach Moss said. "The event was great and it was awesome to be able to showcase our amazing facility."
Juniors Alyssa Chen (foil) and Julia Falinska (epee) both won all six of their matches.
The 'Cats will be back in action next Sunday, Feb. 21, as they welcome Notre Dame and Lawrence to Evanston for another tri-dual.
