'Cats Prepare for Combe Doubleheader

Last time out, the 'Cats kicked off the weekend with a 7-0 sweep of Vanderbilt at home. The team holds a 4-1 record in the Combe Tennis Center. Post-home win, the Wildcats traveled to Cambridge, Mass. where they fell 3-4 to No. 14 Harvard.
Three doubles pairings saw success on the weekend. Chris Ephron and Dominik Stary earned a 6-3 win against the Crimson, while Steven Forman/Natan Spear and Simen Bratholm/Nick Brookes secured the doubles point from Vanderbilt.
Bratholm added on to his duobles victory with singles wins in both matchups. Sophomore Trice Pickens also swept the weekend on the singles courts.
With an undefeated weekend, senior Dominik Stary was named the UTR/ITA DI Men's National Player of the Week. Against the Commodores, Stary defeated #109 George Harwell in three sets at No.1 singles and at No. 2 doubles, bested the doubles team of Max Freeman and Christiaan Worst, 4-3. He was back against #14 Crimson where he downed #68 Ronan Jachuck in three sets at No. 2 singles (6-3, 2-6, 6-3) and bested the No. 2 doubles team of Sun and Walker, 6-3.
Columbia holds a 5-2 record on the season, and UIC sits at 1-6. Last season, Northwestern fell to the Lions, but swept the Flames 4-0.
Northwestern will continue their stand at home next weekend with matchups against Illinois on Saturday and Notre Dame and UIC on Sunday in the Combe Tennis Center.
