'Cats Close Out Regular Season with Pair of Home Matches

EVANSTON, Ill. — No. 31 Northwestern will close out the 2019 regular season this weekend when it plays host to No. 18 Ohio State on Saturday and Penn State on Sunday. Both matches are schedule to begin at 11 a.m. CT and are set to be played indoors.
The Wildcats will honor the careers of Rheeya Doshi, Carol Finke and Lee Or on Sunday during the doubles and singles break. Free pizza will be offered to fans between the doubles and singles break on both days, while fans will receive free Easter candy on Sunday.
Northwestern (12-9, 5-4 B1G) picked up a 4-0 win on Wednesday night against Chicago State. The Buckeyes come to Evanston on a four-match win streak and a 19-3 mark on the campaign and 8-1 record against conference opponents. Penn State is 11-9 on the season and 3-6 in Big Ten play. The Nittany Lions will play at Illinois on Saturday before visiting to Evanston.
The Buckeyes have a trio of singles players ranked in the top 125, including Isabelle Boulais (63), Shiori Fukuda (79) and Kolie Allen (91). Fukuda and Boulais are ranked No. 36 in doubles, while the pairing of Boulais and Danielle Wolf checks in at No. 74.
Or has led Northwestern in Big Ten play this season, compiling a 7-2 mark in singles play against league opponents. Clarissa Hand, who checked in at No. 40 in the latest singles rankings, is 10-10 for NU at the No. 1 spot this season.
The Wildcats enter the weekend in fifth place in the Big Ten standings.
