No. 11 Texas Slips Past No. 23 Northwestern, 4-2

EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 23 Northwestern remained undefeated in doubles play, but 11th-ranked Texas used a strong performance in singles to defeat the Wildcats, 4-2, Sunday at Combe Tennis Center.
The Wildcats (3-2) started the match by continuing their dominance in doubles play. The eighth-ranked team of Alex Chatt and Lee Or had little trouble with Anna Turati and Bojana Markovic, cruising to a 6-1 win. Meanwhile, Julie Byrne and Rheeya Doshi clinched the doubles point for NU with an equally impressive 6-2 win over Bianca Turati and Fernanda Labrana, putting the hosts up 1-0 in the match.
The teams split the opening set in the six singles matches. Chatt was able to increase Northwestern's lead to 2-0 when she finished off a back-and-forth match against Marta Perez-Mur at No. 5, winning 6-1, 0-6, 6-1.
However, the Longhorns were able to get victories from Fernanda Labrana at No. 4, Bianca Turati at No. 1, Katie Poluta at No. 6 and the clincher from Bojana Markovic at No. 3 to earn the hard-fought victory.
Northwestern returns to action at 5 p.m. Central time Saturday when it travels to Oregon.
