Northwestern to Host Wisconsin in Big Ten Finale
10/23/2018 1:29:00 PM | Men's Soccer
EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern returns home Wednesday evening following a three-match road trip to host Wisconsin in its final Big Ten encounter of the campaign. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT and the action will be available on BTNPLUS/BTN2Go.
The Wildcats currently sit at 4-7-5 overall after a draw last time out at Michigan State. NU held the 13th-ranked Spartans scoreless over 110 minutes of action, thanks in part to Miha Miskovic's seven saves on 22 shots faced. The game was just the fifth of the year in which an MSU opponent recorded a tie or better.
The Badgers will enter the contest at 7-5-2 on the year, including a 4-2 record in conference play. Wisconsin most recently took down Michigan, 1-0, on Friday evening.
The last nine matchups between the two programs have been perfectly split with four wins apiece and one draw. Additionally, both sides have scored exactly 12 goals over those nine contests. In the last four meetings in Evanston, NU and UW have each come out on top twice, and all but one were decided by a single goal.
Chicago's Big Ten Team currently ranks second in the conference and 15th nationally with a .500 shutout percentage on the season. With his eighth of the campaign against the Spartans, Miskovic moved into a tie with Tyler Miller's 2014 mark for fourth all-time on the program's single-season shutout list. The sophomore also ranks first in the conference and fourth in the nation with that mark, and is second in the Big Ten in total saves.
Senior midfielder Camden Buescher leads the team with seven points on the year, including three goals and an assist. Buescher is one of five NU players this season to score multiple goals, a feat also accomplished by Ty Seager, Garrett Opperman, Matt Moderwell and Bardia Kimiavi. Seager has also added a pair of assists and ranks second on the squad with six total points.
Friday's matchup is the first of two home tilts to close out the regular season for the 'Cats, who will host Concordia on Friday after Wednesday's conference finale.
