Northwestern Travels to Oklahoma for ITA Kickoff

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will travel to Norman, Oklahoma this weekend to open the ITA Kickoff event on Saturday morning. The 'Cats will face the Sooners at 10 a.m. CT, followed by either Georgia Tech or Illinois on Sunday.
Chicago's Big Ten Team is coming off a 5-0 victory over Boise State on Sunday afternoon. After Chris Ephron and Michael Lorenzini gave NU the first point of the match with a clutch win at No. 3 doubles, the Wildcats won all four singles matches that were completed.
Just two contests into the season, the newcomers on the squad have been impressive. First-years Nick Brookes and AJ Joshi have each won the first two singles matches of their career, while fellow rookie Antonioni Fasano is 1-0 and led in his match that remained unfinished in Boise.
Oklahoma has started the campaign off well, wining all five of its matches, including three shutouts. The Sooners took down Arizona and Abilene Christian in a Saturday doubleheader at home last time out.
The two programs faced off last season at the ITA Indoor Championships, with both teams ranked in the top fifteen in the country at the time. The match came down to the final singles spot, with the score knotted at 3-3. The Sooners won in a third-set tiebreaker to seal a 4-3 win in a contest that could not have been closer.
Saturday's winner will face the victor between the Illini and the Yellow Jackets, who also play at 10 a.m. CT. The losing teams will compete at 10 a.m. Sunday, and the championship match is set for 1 p.m.
