Northwestern Set for Saturday's Senior Day Showdown vs. Iowa

EVANSTON, Ill. – The Northwestern men's and women's swimming and diving teams host Iowa on Saturday, Jan. 20, in dual-meet action. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m. CT at the Norris Aquatics Center.
 
Last Time Out
 
Both the men's and women's programs are coming off dual-meet victories. The women defeated Florida Gulf Coast, 111.5-93.5, on Dec. 17, while the men topped SMU, 158-122, on Jan. 13.
 
The women claimed the top spot in seven of the 11 events against FGCU.
 
First year Calypso Sheridan continued her dominant first season. After contributing to the Wildcats' 400 medley relay victory, Sheridan won all three of her individual events: the 200 IM, the 200 back and 200 breast. She now totals 15 total victories on the season.
 
Senior Mary Warren followed suit by claiming the top spot in the 50 free and 100 free. Warren has won the 50 free in each of her six meets this season. Senior Anna Keane finished first in the 200 free, finishing more than two seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
 
On the men's side, the Wildcats were victorious in 11 of their events against SMU.
 
Junior Will Hofstadter claimed the top spot in the 100 and 200 breast, while junior Jack Thorne won the 100 back.
 
First year Liam Gately had an impressive performance, winning the 200 free and 500 free. Senior Almog took the top spot in the 50 free, while junior Ryan Tate won the 100 free. Junior Tyler Lis picked up the victory in the 200 back. On the boards, Ben Magliato swept the 1-meter and 3-meter events. 
 
The Match Up
 
The Hawkeye women [4-3] are coming off a triple dual in which they topped Illinois 198-102, but fell to No. 22 Notre Dame 217-80. Sophomore Hannah Burvill led the Hawkeyes to two runner-up finishes in the 500 and 1000 free.
 
The Northwestern women have won six of their last nine matchups against Iowa but fell to the Hawkeyes, 156-144, last season.
 
The Hawkeye men [3-1] are coming off their first loss of the season, 187-113, to No. 20 Notre Dame. Iowa has wins over Big Ten foes Minnesota and Purdue and is receiving votes in the latest rankings.
 
The men fell to Iowa, 166-134, last season.
 
Senior Day
 
Northwestern will honor its seniors in their last meet at the Norris Aquatics Center. For the women, this includes Monique Demaisip, Mashal Hashem, Anna Keane, Aja Malone, Sydney Modeas, Katherine Senseman and Mary Warren. The men will honor Jonathan Blansfield, Gage Kohner, Almog Olshtein, Nick Petersen and Alex Snarski.
