
Wildcats Travel to Seattle For Two Matches

EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 38 Northwestern faces a pair of stiff tests when it travels to Seattle this weekend for two matches hosted by the University of Washington.
The Wildcats square off with 11th-ranked Oklahoma State at 3 p.m. Central time Saturday prior to facing the 25th-ranked Huskies at 2 p.m. CT Sunday.
Northwestern (5-4) is back in action after taking last weekend off from competition. The 'Cats are coming off a 6-1 win over Illinois in the Big Ten opener for both teams in Evanston Feb. 19.
NU is continuing to play a challenging schedule. Of the team's four losses, three have come against top-10 opponents. While Baylor wasn't ranked at the team of its match with the 'Cats, but the Bears are currently ranked No. 13 in the nation.
This is the penultimate weekend of nonconference matches for Northwestern which will host Texas Tech March 19 and travel to Georgia Tech three days later prior to matching up against Big Ten foes for their final 10 contests of the dual match season.
The Wildcats are led by the ninth-ranked doubles team of Alex Chatt and Maddie Lipp. The duo of Lee Or and Erin Larner are also nationally ranked, coming in at No. 56. In singles, Brooke Rischbieth is ranked No. 121.
Oklahoma State (8-3) posted a 6-1 win over host Washington on Friday. The Cowgirls are paced by Viktoriya Lushkov who is ranked No. 9 in the nation in singles while Carla Tur Mari is No. 46, Vladica Babic is No. 50, Aliona Bolsova is No. 54, Katarina Adamovic is No. 56 and Sofia Blanco is No. 101. In doubles, Tur Mari and Babic are ranked sixth, Babic and Adamovic are No. 17, Bolsova and Blanco are No. 31 and Lushkova and Adamovic are No. 34.
Washington (10-3) does not have any singles or doubles teams nationally ranked. The Huskies have two common opponents with Northwestern to date. Washington defeated Illinois 5-2 Jan. 22 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and suffered a narrow 4-3 loss at Baylor Feb. 5.
