FINAL RESULTS
FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Northwestern women's swimmers put together a strong showing Sunday morning, winning seven of 11 events to defeat Florida Gulf Coast, 111.5-93.5.
First year Calypso Sheridan won three individual events, senior Mary Warren had a pair of victories and senior Anna Keane dominated the field in the 200 free.
The Wildcats' 400 medley relay team of Sheridan, first years Sophie Angus and Ilektra Lebl and Warren set the tone with a victory to start the dual, finishing in front of the Eagles' top team by nearly two seconds.
Senior Sydney Modeas and sophomore Irune Andres finished second and third in the 1,000 free, with Modeas touching the wall with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 10:23.04.
Keane swam away from the opposition to win the 200 free in 1:51.72, Warren won the 50 free in 23.26 and Sheridan won the first of three events with a 2:03.44 in the 200 IM. Sheridan also won the 200 back in 2:00.94 and the 200 breast in 2:17.51.
Warren picked up her second victory of the day with a 51.36 in the 100 free, finishing just ahead of Keane and FGCU's Hannah Burdge who tied for second at 51.73.
The Wildcats spent the last week in Florida for a training trip and will be back in action next month when they travel to Austin, Texas, for the USA Swimming Arene Pro Series. The 'Cats next dual is Jan. 20 versus Iowa.
