
Three-Match Homestand on Tap this Weekend

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern will play three matches in Evanston over the weekend, including two against top-35 national competition.
The 20th-ranked Wildcats will face No. 30 North Carolina State on Friday at 6 p.m. On Sunday, the team will take on No. 32 Vanderbilt at 11 a.m. before playing UIC in the evening match at 5 p.m. in the second of five home doubleheaders this season.

Last Time Out
Northwestern improved its record against ranked foes this season to 7-1, beating 47th-ranked Kentucky at home by a 6-1 score last Friday. 14th-ranked singles player Konrad Zieba defeated No. 25 William Bushamuka of Kentucky in the marquee matchup. Freshman standout Ben Vandixhorn won in straight sets, improving his dual play record to 4-1.
The Wildcats
Kirchheimer has jumped out to a 7-0 record in dual play and is 13-2 overall. He is ranked 77th nationally according to the most recent ITA poll. The next individual player rankings come out Feb. 23.
He is joined in the rankings by Zieba (No. 14) and Sam Shropshire (No. 57). Zieba and Shropshire have also shined in doubles this season, going a perfect 6-0 as a tandem in dual play.
Northwestern is 8-1 overall, dropping just one match to then-No. 7 Illinois in the finals of ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Wildcats have outscored their opponents 37-11 this season.
History
Northwestern is 2-4 all-time vs. North Carolina State. The two teams have faced off in each of the last five seasons, with the Wolfpack holding a 3-2 edge in those matches.
The Wildats are 3-6 vs. Vanderbilt. The teams have played each of the last six seasons. The Wildcats beat the Commodores for the first time in 2015.
UIC has not fared so well against the Purple and White. Northwestern is 18-0 all-time against the Flames.
Scouting North Carolina State
The Wolfpack are off to a 9-2 start this season, including wins in their last five matches. North Carolina State boasts two ranked singles players, No. 53 Nick Horton and No. 74 Simon Norenius. Both are 8-1 in dual play this season in singles and 2-2 as a doubles tandem.
Scouting Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt is 5-3 on the year and 1-0 in true road matches. It has won two straight matches following a three-match skid. The Commodores' number one player, Daniel Valent, is currently 97th in the ITA singles rankings. He is 4-0 in dual play this year, playing each match in the number one slot.
Scouting UIC
UIC is 3-3 in 2016, but it has dropped each of its three road matches. Northwestern will be the first ranked opponent the Flames face this year.

The Wildcats will wrap up their five-match homestand when they take on No. 3 TCU on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m.
