No. 23 Northwestern Stymied by Georgia Tech

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Lok Sze Leung and Alex Chatt won their singles matches, but No. 23 Northwestern (10-6, 5-2) fell at 35th-ranked Georgia Tech, 5-2, Wednesday evening in Atlanta.
Leung won at No. 3 singles to put the Wildcats on the board. With the team trailing 2-0, Leung put the finishing touches on a dominant effort over the Yellow Jackets' Kendal Woodard. The Northwestern senior beat Woodard 6-3, 6-2.
Chatt played the only match that went to three sets. Georgia Tech had already clinched the team win, but Chatt fought back from a first set loss to take the next two from Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer. The 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) win is Chatt's team-leading 23rd in 2015. The freshman improved to 13-3 in duals.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early advantage in doubles play before Georgia Tech came back to claim the point. The nation's 70th ranked tandem of Rheeya Doshi and Brooke Rischbieth scored an 8-4 victory over Anton-Ohlmeyer and Alexis Prokopuik, but the Yellow Jackets managed wins at the other two positions.
Northwestern had won six of its last seven matches prior to Wednesday night's loss.
The `Cats are back to Big Ten action this weekend with matches at Minnesota on Saturday at noon and at Wisconsin on Sunday at 10 a.m.
