MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The 23rd-ranked Northwestern women's tennis team won its fourth consecutive Big Ten match with a 7-0 shutout of No. 61 Minnesota on Saturday. The Wildcats swept doubles play and earned four of their six singles wins in straight sets to improve to 6-2 in conference play.

Northwestern (11-6, 6-2) shut out the Golden Gophers for the third straight year, and Saturday marked the second consecutive time doing so in Minneapolis.

The Wildcats remained strong in doubles play, winning at Nos. 2 and 3 and holding a strong lead at No. 1 when the match went unfinished. The 70th-ranked tandem of Rheeya Doshi and Brooke Rischbieth were 8-4 winners at the second spot and were followed by another 8-4 win by Lok Sze Leung and Alex Chatt at No. 3 to secure the match's first team point for the `Cats. The No. 39 duo of Alicia Barnett and Erin Larner held a 7-4 advantage at No. 1 when Northwestern picked up the point.

Singles play looked good for NU on Saturday as well. The Wildcats wasted no time getting to the decisive fourth team point with successive wins from Chatt, Leung and Larner to clinch the match.

Chatt was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 3 for her team-leading 24th win. She improved to 14-3 in dual matches.

Leung beat Aria Lambert at No. 4 by a 6-0, 6-3 score, while Larner scored a 6-0, 7-6 (4) decision at No. 2.

Rischbieth continued Northwestern's winning ways with a 7-6 (4), 6-3 victory at No. 6, and Barnett and Doshi finished the Gophers off with three-set wins at Nos. 1 and 5, respectively.

Northwestern travels to Madison, Wis. on Sunday for a 10:00 a.m. showdown with the Wisconsin Badgers.
