EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's scheduled doubleheader with Notre Dame today has been canceled due to inclement weather. The first game was stopped with the Fighting Irish leading 3-1 in the top of the third inning. The completed innings will not count for either team.
With the forecast showing a wide band of rain moving through the Chicago area, it was decided by game officials to cancel the entire afternoon of action. The games are the third and fourth lost to rain this year for the Wildcats. Contests against then No. 13 Pacific and No. 24 Texas were also canceled earlier in the year.
Northwestern returns to action at 3 p.m. Friday against Indiana at Sharon J. Drysdale Field.
