No. 23 Washington Tops Men's Tennis Team

SEATTLE - Fresh off a comeback victory on Saturday, the No. 49 Northwestern men's tennis team fell to host school No. 23 Washington in the Great Northwest Shootout on Sunday.

Freshman Tommy Hanus (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) had his dual match win streak snapped at eight, dropping a match to No. 53 Alex Vlaski at the No. 2 position. Hanus is now 8-1, while the Wildcats are 6-3 on the season.

Hanus had also been undefeated in doubles play, most recently teaming up with Russell Bennett (Wilmette, Ill./Wilmette). The pair lost 8-6 on Sunday to Matt Hanlin and Dillon Ruby.

The only NU tandem to post a doubles win was Jackie Jenkins (College Park, Ga./Westlake) and Chuck Perrin (Atlanta, Ga./The Walker School). Senior Jamie Sahara was the only Wildcat to win a singles match, defeating Ari Strasberg 6-2, 6-4.

Northwestern remains on the road for the next two matches, Feb. 23 and 24 at Michigan State and Michigan.
