Women's Tennis Loses Tough One to UNC, 4-3

EVANSTON, ILL. - In a battle of unbeatens, it was Northwestern who fell to No. 28 North Carolina, 4-3. The 'Cats entertained the Tar Heels (4-0, 0-0 ACC) Saturday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center. Northwestern falls to 4-1 on the season.
UNC opened the match strong, taking the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3. NU's Colleen Cheng and Jessica Rush defeated UNC's Lee Bairos and Marlene Mejia at No. 1, 8-6.
In singles, the Wildcats won three of the six matches. Shannon Duffy, playing at No. 3 defeated UNC's Kendrick Bunn, 6-4, 6-4. Marine Piriou won at No. 4, defeating Kristin Koening, 6-2, 6-3 and Simona Petrutiu defeated Caroline Hill at No. 5, 6-3, 6-0.
The Wildcats are back in action on Sunday, February 11, when they host the Alabama Crimson Tide. Match time is set for 11 a.m.
