Women's Fencing Fifth After Day One of NCAA Championships

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's fencing team sits in fifth place after day one of the 2000 NCAA Fencing Championships held in Palo Alto, Calif. NU trails leader, Penn State, by 18 points.
Freshman Kate Rudkin (Boulder, Colo./Boulder) sits in second place in the ep?e division with 12 victories and one loss. Sophomore Jennifer Greenebaum (Mendham, N.J./Pingrey School), also in ep?e, is in 16th after the first four rounds.
Senior Vivian Imaizumi (Penn Valley, Pa./Harriton) and junior Carly Wells (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) sit in third and fourth place in women's sabre. Imaizumi has 11 victories while Wells has 10.
The third and final weapon, foil, sophomore Kristen Dorf (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) is in 20th with four victories.
The championships continue today, March 24, concluding on March 26.
