Scott Schatzman Falls in Semifinal Round

EVANSTON, Ill. - At the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, senior Scott Schatzman (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central) advanced to the semifinal round of the 141-lb. weight class before falling to Michael Lightner (Oklahoma).
Schatzman defeated Damion Logan (Michigan) in the quarterfinal round, 4-2, before falling to Lightner -- one of only two wrestlers to defeat Schatzman on the year -- by major decision, 12-4.
Schatzman's next match is against top-ranked Doug Schwab (Iowa) in the semifinals of the consolation bracket.
Three other Wildcats ended their championship run as senior Mark Bybee (Chicago, Ill./St.Laurence) defeated Charles Martelli (Michigan), 5-4, before falling to Joseph Tucceri, 6-2 at 174 pounds. Senior Tom Ciezki (Evergreen Park, Ill. St. Laurence) was pinned by Josh States (Buffalo) in the first round in the 184 pound weight class. Sophomore Matt Huebner (Woodstock, Ill./Woodstock) fell in a 2-0 decision to Dan Bedner of Ohio University at 197 pounds.
