Jordan Betterman begins his second season with the Northwestern Universty men's soccer program in 2025. Betterman, who will serve as the program's Director of Analytics after spending the 2024 campaign as a graduate assistant, joined the 'Cats from Forward Madison FC of USL League One, where he served as a data scientist.
During his stay in the Badger State, Betterman researched and analyzed team success based off player performance data to directly assist the coaching staff in tactical decision making. Betterman's work was instrumental in helping Forward Madison FC post an impressive 10-3-9 record during the 2024 season en route to appearing in the semifinals of the USL League One Playoffs.
Betterman cut his teeth in collegiate soccer at Drake University, where he was a student assistant with the Bulldogs' men's soccer program. The Bulldogs qualified for the Missouri Valley Conference three times during Betterman's time in Iowa's state capital, a stint that saw him work alongside the Drake coaching staff in implementing statistical data for use in strategizing game plans.
A 2024 graduate of Drake, Betterman earned his Bachelor's Degree in Data Analytics and minored in Computer Science. He is currently pursuing his Master's Degree in Machine Learning & Data Science at the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science.
