Prior to her arrival in Evanston, Howe spent seven seasons at Providence College as an Assistant (2016-2021) and later Associate Head Swim Coach (2021-2023), overseeing a meteoric rise that included seven consecutive seasons of school records broken, including two separate seasons in which the full slate of men's team relay records were reset. The Friars broke 83 school records during Howe's tenure, and three were crowned Big East Champions in 2021 and 2023 in four different events, which were the first from Providence since 1985. She was part of the 2021 Big East Swimming & Diving Coaching Staff of the Year.

Her leadership experience also includes a distinguished season as the Head Coach at St. Joseph's College in Maine (2015-16 NCAA season). During her tenure at St. Joe's, she propelled her team to an impressive runner-up finish at the GNAC Conference Championships, the highest in the women's team's history. Howe was instrumental in guiding the program to its inaugural ECAC Championships qualifier and led the Monks to seven new school records.

Howe competed collegiately for Boston College, graduating in 2010 with BAs in Communication and Theater. She holds a Master's Degree in Higher Education from Providence College and lives in Chicago.
