Eileen O’Rourke was named Northwestern’s associate athletic director for academic services and student development in October of 2021. Along with serving as the main liaison from the athletics department to the academic community on campus, O'Rourke will have oversight of the day-to-day operations of the department's academic services and student development programs that provide resources and guidance to student-athletes from all 19 varsity programs.
O'Rourke originally joined Northwestern Athletics in January 2017 as an Academic Advisor. Her responsibilities include serving as a core advisor to student athletes from a variety of teams. She monitors academic progress in regard to B1G and NCAA legislation and assists first year students in their transition to NU.
Prior to joining Northwestern, O'Rourke spent four years at Indiana University where she served as the Assistant Director of Academic Services and Certification. Her responsibilities included working directly with several of IU’s Olympic sports teams and assisting with the NCAA eligibility certification process. Prior to her time at IU, O’Rourke completed a year-long internship at the University of Memphis. While at Memphis, O'Rourke served as the academic advisor for men's soccer and assisted with NCAA initial and continuing eligibility. O'Rourke is also an active member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A).
O'Rourke earned a bachelor’s degree in history and secondary education (2008) and a master's degree in sports administration (2010) from Eastern Illinois University. While at EIU, the Hickory Hills, Ill., native was a three-year captain for the varsity women's rugby team. O’Rourke and her wife Felicia currently reside in Chicago.
