EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern fell to Rutgers, 15-9, in its regular season finale at Miller Park.

OF Jack Lausch homered twice in the contest, bringing his single-season total to a team-high 16. Lausch's 16 home runs rank second most in program history. The Chicago native's two homers mark the second multi-homer game of his career and first since March 30, 2025, at Maryland.

Rutgers (26-28, 13-17 Big Ten) jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first, scoring the game's first run on an RBI single by DH Peyton Bonds. The Scarlet Knights added on in the fourth, plating three to stretch their lead to 4-0.

Northwestern (21-30-1, 8-22 Big Ten) responded immediately, clawing back a pair in the bottom of the fourth. OF Jackson Freeman plated INF Nick Barron with a sacrifice fly and INF Jake Yang plated OF Logan de Groot to cut the lead to 5-2.

The Scarlet Knights added five in the fifth, one in the sixth and one in the seventh to extend their lead to 11-2.

The 'Cats would not go away quietly, responding with five runs in the bottom of the eighth to cut the deficit to 11-7. OF Jack Lausch opened the scoring in the inning with a solo homer to right field, de Groot plated Barron with an RBI double, Yang drove in a pair with an RBI double of his own and OF Marty Kaplan beat out an infield single to pick up his second RBI in as many games.

After RU added four more runs in the top of the ninth, Lausch slugged his second homer of the game for his second multi-homer game. Barron capped off the scoring with an RBI double to score INF Noah Ruiz.
