EVANSTON, Ill. – Head Coach Michael Moynihan announced the addition of former Northwestern midfielder Rowan Lapi to the women's soccer coaching staff for the 2025 season.
Lapi spent four seasons as a student-athlete at Northwestern from 2019-22, captaining the Wildcats to one of the best seasons in program history in 2022. Lapi made 52 starts in 58 games played during her four years in Evanston, tallying nine goals, four assists, and four game-winning goals–second-most in program history.
The Reinholds, Pa. native earned Second-Team All-Big Ten and Third Team United Soccer Coaches All-North Region recognition in 2022, when Northwestern matched program records with 16 wins and an NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearance.
"Rowan was one of our captains for one of the most successful women's soccer teams we've had at Northwestern," Moynihan said. "She knows our program and the University intimately, and we are excited to have her back. She brings a wealth of collegiate playing experience, professional playing experience and is currently under contract with KIF Örebro in Sweden. Unfortunately, Rowan suffered a long-term injury this season, so she will be working on her rehab while she is coaching with us in the Fall. We are thrilled to have her back in purple and on the sidelines with us for 2025!"
