Men's Tennis Adds Trio of Transfers

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern men's tennis will welcome three transfers to the roster ahead of the 2025-26 season, head coach Arvid Swan announced Wednesday. Cyrus Mahjoob, Dylan Charlap and Ethan Schiffman will all join the 'Cats this fall.
I am really excited to welcome Cyrus, Dylan and Ethan to the program, said Swan. I know they are going to positively impact the team and help us compete at the highest level of college tennis.
Mahjoob, a rising junior, will arrive in Evanston after two years with the Georgia Bulldogs. In two seasons in Athens, he played to a 32-23 career singles record, competing from the No. 5 and 6 positions most frequently. The Maryland native had four match-clinching wins to go with one ranked singles win over No. 78 Mathis Bondaz of VCU in January of 2024. In doubles competition, Mahjoob has constructed a 16-15 college record so far.
A former five-star recruit, Charlap joins the 'Cats from Vanderbilt, where he spent one year. The California native saw consistent doubles action as a first-year, going 17-4 for the Commodores, including an 8-2 record against SEC opponents. In singles play, Charlap went 5-9 overall with a pair of victories in duals against Alabama A&M and Southern Indiana.
Schiffman comes to Northwestern following two years at Cal, where he saw action in 13 singles matches in the fall of 2024. Then a sophomore, he went 6-7. Schiffman also saw limited dual action his first season in Berkeley, picking up a victory each in singles and doubles play his freshman spring. Prior to college, Schiffman was the No. 38 recruit in the nation out of high school, ranking 11th in the state of California.
Mahjoob, Charlap and Schiffman will join three incoming first-years on Swan's roster this fall, bolstering a team that also welcomes back six returning players.
