Begins second season with program after serving as graduate assistant in 2024

EVANSTON, Ill. (July 15, 2025) – Jordan Betterman has been promoted to Director of Analytics with the Northwestern University men's soccer program, as announced by Wildcats' head coach Russell Payne on Tuesday.  Betterman will be entering his second season with the 'Cats after serving as a graduate assistant in 2024.

"Jordan has been an integral part in helping our program to understand how to establish processes for analytics and AI success, both of which are essential components in the modern landscape of sports and business," Payne said.

During his first season in Evanston, Betterman was part of a staff that helped pilot the Wildcats to a 9-7-1 overall finish.  The pairing of Collin McCamy and Nigel Prince both brought home All-Big Ten Conference accolades, with McCamy going on to be selected by New York City FC in this past December's Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft.

"It's an honor and a privilege to be named the Director of Analytics for the Northwestern Men's Soccer program," Betterman commented.  "I look forward to returning for the 2025 season in this new role."

Prior to arriving at Northwestern, Betterman, who is currently interning with the Chicago Fire's football analytics department, served as a data scientist with Forward Madison FC of USL League One.  In his role, he researched and analyzed team success based off player performance data to directly assist the coaching staff in tactical decision making.  Betterman's work helped the club post a 10-3-9 record during the 2024 campaign en route to an appearance in the semifinals of the USL League One Playoffs.

A 2024 graduate of Drake University, Betterman cut his teeth in collegiate soccer as a student assistant with the Bulldogs' men's soccer program, implementing statistical data for use in strategizing game plans.  During his time in Iowa's state capital, Drake qualified for the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament on three occasions.
