HOW TO WATCH: Northwestern First-Year Tyler Kropp at FIBA U19 World Cup

Incoming Northwestern men's basketball first-year Tyler Kropp will represent Argentina in the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup, which will be held from Saturday, June 28 through Sunday, July 6. All games at the tournament can be watched for free live on FIBA's YouTube channel.
 
Kropp's International Career
 
Kropp, a 6'9" forward, has enjoyed a highly-successful international career with Argentina, averaging 17.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game across three tournaments. He made his debut at the 2023 FIBA U16 Americas Championship (now known as the AmeriCup), in which he averaged 10.2 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, helping Argentina to a fourth place finish.
 
Last summer, Kropp broke out on the international stage at the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup in Buenos Aires, Kropp led the competition in both total points and rebounds after averaging 22 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. In the process, he led Argentina to a silver medal finish, its best result since 2008, and was named to the tournament's All-Star Five.
 
A few weeks later, Kropp suited up for Argentina once again at the 2024 FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup and averaged 20.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, ranking third and eighth in the event, respectively. Argentina placed 10th, its best result in a decade.

 

About the 2025 U19 World Cup
 
Sixteen teams from across the globe will participate in the event, with this edition being held in Lausanne, Switzerland. The competition will begin with the group phase with Argentina in Group A. There are four groups of four teams apiece, and they will participate in round-robin play. Following that, all teams will advance to the knockout stage with a bracket based off results in group play.
 
Teams qualified from U18 events held in 2024 in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa regions. Argentina qualified with a second-place finish in the 2024 Under-18 AmeriCup, falling to the United States in the final.
 
Argentina is joined in a group with Serbia, New Zealand, and Mali. Serbia and New Zealand both finished second in their respective continental competitions, the 2024 U18 EuroBasket and 2024 U18 Asia Cup. Mali qualified via its first place result in the 2024 U18 AfroBasket.

Argentina has qualified for the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup every time it has been held since it began in 1979. The team finished in fifth place in 2023.
 
Kropp, a Powell, Ohio, native whose mother is Argentinian, will join Northwestern for its summer workouts following the conclusion of the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup.
