WASHINGTON, D.C. – Northwestern junior attacker Madison Taylor is one of five finalists for the Tewaaraton Award, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced on Thursday.
The offensive spotlight shifted to Taylor this season after Northwestern graduated three players who accounted for 175 of the team's 354 goals (49.4 percent) in 2024. The Wantagh, N.Y. native responded with another banner season. She enters the NCAA Tournament leading the nation with 125 total points, 6.94 points per game and 4.94 goals per game. Her 89 total goals this season are only two behind BC's Clark, who has played 19 games compared to Taylor's 18.
Taylor is 10 goals shy of matching former teammate Izzy Scane's school-record 99 goals, set in 2023. Additionally, she is within striking distance of Abby Hormes' NCAA record of 103 goals, set at High Point in 2022.
Taylor, who was also a finalist for the award during her 2024 sophomore campaign, joins North Carolina's Ashley and Chloe Humphrey and Boston College's Rachel Clark and Shea Dolce in the field for the award. The winner will be announced at a live event on May 29 in Washington, D.C.
The Wildcats begin their 2025 NCAA Tournament run on Sunday, when they host either Akron or No. 13 Michigan at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium on Sunday, May 11. Opening draw is set for 2 p.m. CT and the contest will be carried live on ESPN+.
