‘Cats Excel in Third Round, Maintain Second Place at NCAA Championship Finals

CARLSBAD, Calif. (May 18, 2025) – The Northwestern University Women's Golf team is playing its best golf of the season, maintaining second place after an impressive third round at the NCAA Championship Finals in Carlsbad, Calif.
The 'Cats advance to a fourth day of stroke play on Monday as the field narrows to the top 15 schools and nine individuals not on an advancing team. NU will tee off at 2:40 p.m. CT. Golf Channel and the NBC Sports App will have live coverage 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. CT.
Today, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, the Wildcats (-8) shot a surgical 8-under 280. No. 1 Stanford (-23) remains on top after an astounding 18-under-par round to wrap up the weekend. Oregon, Southern California, Florida State (T5) and Arkansas (T5) round out the top 5. Razorback Maria Jose Marin, the sixth-ranked collegiate golfer, shot a seven-under 65 to take the individual lead.
Northwestern, who played in the morning wave again on Sunday, was led by senior Lauryn Nguyen, who carded a five-under 67 to finish in seventh place. She started the day with an eagle on the first hole. Dianna Lee continued her excellent run of form by shooting a one-under 71 to finish at -2 and T13. Ashley Yun shot one-over to finish at even par and T21. Elise Lee, who made an eagle on nine, finished today at even par and sits +2 and T28. To round out the group, first-year Hsin Tai Lin (T45) played bogey free golf to finish at two-under and improve her total to five-over for the tournament.
