EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins announced the addition of Jayden Reid as a transfer. Reid, coming from South Florida, led the Bulls in points, assists and steals per game last season, and was one of nine players in the American Athletic Conference to average 12.0+ points and 3.0+ assists per game.
"We are excited to have Jayden Reid join our Northwestern Basketball Family," said Collins. "Jayden is a talented veteran lead guard that can impact the game on both ends of the floor. He plays with great toughness, competitiveness and a spirit which will fit in perfectly with the culture of our team. We look forward to seeing what Jayden can do in a Wildcat uniform."
Reid enters the program with two years of eligibility remaining after spending his freshman and sophomore campaigns in Tampa.
The 5-foot-10-inch guard started in 23 of 31 games last season and averaged 12.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. Reid attempted 5.1 threes per game, knocking them down at a 35.8% clip.
He scored 23 points, a season-high, in consecutive contests in early December against Stetson and Loyola Chicago. Reid set a career-high just over a month later when he tallied 26 points against UAB in mid-January. He knocked down four threes in all three games.
In seven of the final eight games of the season, Reid scored in double figures — including a 20-point performance against Memphis in the regular season finale and a 19-point showing in the American Athletic Conference Tournament second round against Wichita State.
