Collins Announces Addition of Versatile Guard Max Green

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins announced the addition of Max Green, who will have three years of eligibility remaining after being named Patriot League Rookie of the Year at Holy Cross last season.

"Max Green will be a great addition to Northwestern Basketball," said Collins. "Max is a big, versatile guard who is coming off an outstanding season at Holy Cross. He is a creative shot maker that can also make plays for others. Max is the ultimate competitor and that will be a tremendous fit for our team. I can't wait to see the impact he makes with an exciting young core of players in our program."
 
Starting all 31 games, the La Grange, Ky. native averaged 14.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, all of which led the team. He ranked seventh in points and assists per game and 10th in rebounds per game in the conference. Green is the only Patriot League first-year to ever average 14+ points, 5+ rebounds, and 3+ assists per game.

Green was also one of the best shooters in the Patriot League, shooting 5.9 attempts per game from beyond the arc per game and converting them at a 38.0% clip.

Green's 14.9 points per game ranked 17th among all first-years in the nation last season.

The 6-foot-6-inch guard received the Patriot League Rookie of the Week award nine times, tying the record held by C.J. McCollum (Lehigh, 2009-10) and Marquis Hall (Lehigh, 2006-07).

Green scored 25 points, which remained his career-high, in his third collegiate game in mid-November. He scored in double-figures in 26 out of 31 games, including in 13 of his last 14 games. He scored 20+ points five times six times, five of which came against conference opponents.
 
Green posted his lone double-double in the Patriot League conference tournament first round, notching 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Green helped lead Holy Cross to 13 wins, its most in a season since 2018-19.

The versatile weapon registered 11 games with 7+ rebounds and nine games with 5+ assists. Green had six games with 5+ rebounds and 5+ assists, which was tied for most in the conference.

Playing for Oldham County High School, Green led the state of Kentucky averaging 32.1 points per game as a senior. As a junior, he averaged 23.8 points per game. Over the course of his career, he scored over 2,000 career points and became the leading scorer in Oldham County history.
