NU Sending 15 to NCAAs Following Strong Showings at Diving Zones & B1Gs

EVANSTON, Ill. – The Northwestern swimming and diving team will be well represented at the upcoming NCAA Championships, with 15 Wildcats qualifying for the prestigious competition. Two of those 'Cats – Isabella Chen and Kyle Ly – qualified today as the 2025 NCAA Zone C Diving Championships wrapped up in Columbus, Ohio.
"We are incredibly proud of our swimmers and divers for their dedication, hard work, and outstanding performances this season," said Northwestern Director of Swimming & Diving Rachel Stratton-Mills. "Having 15 student-athletes heading to Seattle for the NCAA Championship speaks to what we are building here with this program and to the commitment of our team."
In diving, Northwestern will send Chen (Platform) and Ly (Platform) to the NCAA Championships following their strong performances at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships. Their ability to rise to the occasion today in the Platform competition has earned them the opportunity to compete on a national stage. Additional divers who made the finals at the Zone C Diving Championships include Chloe Sharpe (Women 3m), Adam Cohen (Men 1m, 3m & Platform) and Nolan Rooker (Platform). Chen also made the finals in Women 1m & 3m.
Five (5) school records have been broken this postseason: Stuart Seymour (19.22 / 45.07) in the 50 Free and 100 Back, David Gerchik/Tyler Lu/Seymour/Cade Duncan (3:05.57) in the 400 Medley Relay, Seymour/Duncan/Connor Schuster/Gerchik (2:49.77) in the 400 Free Relay and Josh Staples (4:13.28) in the 500 Free.
On the women's side, six swimmers have punched their tickets to the NCAA Championships: Nikki Venema (50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay, 800 Free Relay), Lindsay Ervin (50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay, 800 Free Relay), Audrey Yu (200 Free Relay & 400 Free Relay), Sydney Smith (400 Free Relay & 800 Free Relay), Amy Pan (200 Free Relay), and Zoe Nordmann (800 Free Relay). Their performances throughout the season have demonstrated excellence in the pool, earning them spots in the nation's most competitive collegiate swimming event.
For the men's team, seven swimmers have qualified for the NCAA Championships: Seymour (50 Free, 100 Back, 100 Free), Gerchik (100 Back & 200 Back), Staples (500 Free & 1650 Free), Lu (200 IM), Duncan (Relay Alternate), Schuster (Relay Alternate), and Diego Nosack (Relay Alternate). These student-athletes have continued to showcase Northwestern's competitive edge, securing their places among the best in the country.
The 2025 NCAA Division I women's swimming and diving championships, where the Wildcats will look to make their mark against the nation's top talent, will be held at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way, Washington, from March 19-22. The full schedule of events is listed here and will be streamed on ESPN+.
The 2025 NCAA Division I men's swimming and diving championships will be held at the same location from March 26-29. ESPN+ will provide live digital coverage for preliminary and finals sessions Wednesday through Saturday. Tape-delayed coverage of the men's championships will be on ESPNU at 6:00 pm CT on March 31.
