EVANSTON, Ill. - The Kabiller NU for Life Program hosted a three-day Invest NU workshop for student-athletes to discover their why, enhance strengths, and build foundational networking skills for lifelong career development.
"The workshop provided me skills that I didn't know I had and gave me confidence to be myself. This changed my life," said Emma Raye, a first-year on the softball team.
The three day workshop, facilitated by The Kabiller NU for Life Program's Marcus Geralds and Kate Smith, provided life changing experiences for participants. Twenty-one student-athletes representing nine teams had the opportunity to enhance their career by connecting with Northwestern Alumni and the Evanston community. Participants were able to explore their core values, discover their why, and transfer skills into their career development.
At the three-day program, student-athletes engaged in professional development workshops, mock networking and interactive activities. The professional development workshops focused on identifying and enhancing strengths, core values, transferable skills, and leadership fulfillment.
On Saturday evening, participants had the opportunity to connect to Northwestern staff and alumni during the mock networking session.
"The 'strengths finder' was valuable to me because it showed my strengths but also my weaknesses within those strengths that I need to work on," said junior Lauren Trumpy from the women's basketball team.
As for interactive activities, the student-athletes got to participate in minute-to-win-it games and card-making for Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.
