EVANSTON, Ill. (June 24, 2024) – Nine Northwestern University student-athletes have been selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large Teams, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Annabel Skubisz (Houston, Texas/The Kinkaid School) and Alia Marshall (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen) earned the honor after stand-out seasons with Northwestern field hockey. Skubisz, a goalkeeper, racked up a program-record 13 shutouts last fall en route to the program's third-straight appearance in the National Championship game. The senior was named the inaugural Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year and the Big Ten Tournament MVP in addition to All-Conference, All-Region and All-American honors. Marshall also made big contributions over field hockey's regular season and postseason runs. She tallied 24 assists - one shy of Northwestern's single-season program record - to finish with 47 in her career, which ranks fourth in school history. She was also named All-Big Ten, All-Region and All-American for her efforts. Following the completion of her field hockey career, Marshall also appeared in 16 games for Northwestern's lacrosse team this spring.

Also from Northwestern lacrosse, Erin Coykendall (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) and Carleigh Mahoney (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) earned Academic All-District honors. Coykendall capped off her time in Evanston with a phenomenal 2024 season that earned her a second straight First Team All-American selection. Her 57 assists led the Big Ten and were a single-season career high, ranking fourth overall in single-season program history. This year's total contributed to a career tally of 197 - good for second in Northwestern history. Mahoney started 20 games in Northwestern's run to a second-straight National Championship game appearance, making key contributions to one of the top defenses in the nation. Mahoney's career-high 33 caused turnovers this season ranked sixth in the Big Ten, 48th in the nation and second on the team to only Kendall Halpern (35).

Troy Fisher (Garden Plain, Kan./Goddard) and Maxx Mayfield (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln East), both members of the Wildcats' wrestling team, were honored.  Fisher, who is now a two-time Academic All-District pick for his career, closed his regular season with three straight wins, highlighted by an impressive 7-3 decision of No. 11 Jacob Nolan of Binghamton.  Mayfield made a second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships, where he scored a pair of upset victories over higher-seeded foes.

Cameron Adam (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston Castle School) represented Northwestern's men's golf program, which captured its first Big Ten Conference title since 2006 this past season.  A Second Team All-Big Ten selection, Adam put together an impressive junior campaign, firing 15 rounds at par or better while tallying three top-10 finishes.

Lauryn Nguyen (Seattle, Wash./West Seattle) put together an outstanding junior campaign for the Wildcats' women's golf team.  Nguyen, a First Team All-Big Ten pick, posted a single-season program-record 71.49 stroke average and secured her first collegiate victory, finishing atop the leaderboard at the Windy City Collegiate Classic, as she helped lead the 'Cats to the program's 10th berth to the NCAA Women's Golf Championships.

Karen Wang (Houston, Texas/Taylor) enjoyed a strong sophomore season with the Northwestern fencing program.  Wang finished 7-2 during the team portion of the Central Collegiate Fencing Conference (CCFC) Championships, helping propel the 'Cats to their first outright CCFC team title in program history, before capturing the league's individual epee title.  She went on to make a second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Fencing Championships.

To be nominated for the CSC Academic All-District Teams, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 70 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable). This honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
