Three 'Cats Claim Victory as Northwestern Falls 29-10 to Little Rock

EVANSTON, Ill. - Three Wildcats collected victories on Sunday afternoon in Welsh-Ryan Arena, but the Wildcats (1-1) fell to No. 20 Little Rock (3-0) by a final score of 29-10.
Ranked at No. 11 by InterMat entering the match, Trevor Chumbley recorded his second win of dual season at 157 lbs in a 4-1 victory by decision over No. 23 Matty Bianchi. Chumbley got off to a fast start with a takedown less than 30 seconds into the first period, giving him an early 3-0 lead over Bianchi. That's all he would need to secure the victory, as the two wrestlers traded escapes but nothing more en route to a 4-1 decision in Chumbley's favor.
No. 16 Maxx Mayfield kept things rolling at 165 lbs, blanking Little Rock's Brendon Abdon with an 8-0 major decision. Takedowns in the first and third period and over two minutes of riding time helped Mayfield to his second victory of dual season.
Dirk Morley capped things off for the 'Cats. At 285 lbs, Morley notched the first dual meet victory of his collegiate career with a pair of takedowns and the riding time point.
With home non-conference action behind them, next up for Northwestern is the CKLV Invitational, held Dec. 6-7 in Las Vegas, Nev.
