First-year collects third podium finish of 2024-25

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (November 13, 2024) – Nisha Hild continued the red-hot start to her first-year campaign as Northwestern fencing sent a group of student-athletes to Louisville, Ky. over the weekend for USA Fencing's November North American Cup (NAC) event.

After finishing 4-2 across six pool bouts, Hild knocked off five higher-seeded foes as part of an impressive run through the tableau in the junior women's sabre.  The Holliston, Mass. product scored an impressive upset in the Round of 64, upending seventh-seeded Elaine Lu in a thrilling 15-14 triumph.  Hild now has three podium finishes to her name this season.

Also competing in the junior women's sabre, fellow first-year Natalie Shearer rolled to a spotless 6-0 finish in pool action en route to taking 20th place.

Brianna Ho carried the banner for Northwestern in the junior women's foil.  Out of Bernardsville, N.J., Ho came away with four pool victories before adding an additional win in the tableau to place 50th overall.

Competing in the junior women's epee, Ava Wade-Currie finished 78th.  Like Ho, Wade-Currie, a native of Hyde Park, Mass., picked up four pool wins, in addition to a head-to-head victory in the tableau.
