Northwestern Falls To Wisconsin, 23-3

EVANSTON, Ill. (October 19, 2024) - Wisconsin (5-2, 3-1 B1G) built a two-score lead in the first half en route to defeating Northwestern (3-4, 1-3 B1G) by a final score of 23-3 on Saturday afternoon at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium.

Jack Lausch paced the Northwestern attack both on the ground and through the air. Lausch finished with 55 rushing yards, a total aided by a 29-yard scamper in the third quarter, and 82 yards passing. The Wildcat signal caller's top target on the day proved to be Thomas Gordon, who hauled in four receptions for 49 yards.

Cam Porter also provided support on the ground for the 'Cats, rushing 14 times for 48 yards. Joseph Himon II added 23 yards on five touches.

Coco Azema and Greyson Metz both made impact plays on defense.  Azema came away with a first-quarter interception, in addition to recording four tackles, while Metz was credited with a forced fumble in the third quarter as part of stat line that also included eight tackles, one tackle for loss, and one sack. Najee Story, who added a half-sack, recovered the aforementioned fumble.  Damon Walters led the Northwestern defensive unit on the afternoon with a career-best 11 tackles.

Jaiden Cameron made his presence felt on special teams, blocking a 41-yard Nathanial Vakos field goal attempt in the second quarter.

» Lausch led the Northwestern ground attack for the third time in his five starts.
» Azema came away with his third career interception in the first quarter.
» Metz forced a fumble for the second time in as many games and third time in his career.
    » After not forcing a fumble in its first five games, the 'Cats have forced four in their last two outings.
» Cameron was credited with Northwestern's second blocked field goal of the season.
» Walters piled up eight solo tackles as part of his career afternoon on the defensive side of the ball.
» Braedyn Locke led the Wisconsin passing attack, completing 14 of his 24 attempts for 160 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
» Tawee Walker finished with 126 yards rushing for the Badgers.
