DeAugustino & Davison Pick Up Top-5 Wins at Wisconsin

MADISON, Wisc. - Michael DeAugustino and Lucas Davison kicked off the conference slate with victories over a pair of top-5 opponents, as #24 Northwestern gave #15 Wisconsin everything they could handle in a 19-15 team victory for the Badgers.
In the first matchup of the night, DeAugustino faced off against Eric Barnett, the No. 4 ranked wrestler in the country at 125. After competing at last season's NCAA Championship meet, DeAugustino picked up right where he left off in Big Ten play. Trailing 4-0 in the second frame, the senior used a huge reversal to get the takedown and seize momentum in a 9-5 decision.
Bookending the night with another upset, Lucas Davison defeated #5 Trent Hillger with riding time in a 4-3 decision between the heavyweights. Davison has been rolling since a fifth-place finish at the CKLV Invitational, picking up a pair of wins against SIUE and Virginia at last month's tri-dual before Friday's upset in Madison.
Ryan Deakin, Chris Cannon and Frankie Tal-Shahar also grabbed decisions to power Northwestern against the No. 15 team in the country, as the Wildcats got off to a strong start in Big Ten competiton.
The Wildcats will head to Minneapolis as they prepare to face off against another top-15 foe, battling Minnesota at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
