No. 7 Northwestern Eases Past Purdue in 4-0 Win

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – No. 7 Northwestern cruised to a 4-0 win over Purdue on Saturday at the Combe Tennis Center to improve to 13-2 on the season and 9-1 in the Big Ten.
The 'Cats saw wins in singles from Christina Hand, Clarissa Hand and Caroline Pozo. The doubles point was won thanks to Hannah McColgan and Pozo winning 6-2 at No. 3 and the Hand sisters combining for a 6-4 clinch at No. 2.
Ch. Hand got on the board first at No. 6 singles with a stress-free 6-0, 6-1 win over Zeynep Naz Ozturk. Cl. Hand followed suit with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Zala Dovnik at No. 3. Pozo finished off the match for the Wildcats after a tough first set with an easier second to win 7-5, 6-1 over Rut Galindo at No. 5
Julie Byrne was up a set 6-4, 3-3 when the match was called, and both Maria Shusharina and Briana Crowley were in tight third sets.
Northwestern continues its race at the top of the Big Ten standings with Michigan and Ohio State on Sunday, when it welcomes Indiana for another B1G matchup at the Combe Tennis Center. First serve is set for noon CT.
