‘Cats Fall to Purdue in Back-and-Forth Battle, 4-3

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Northwestern fell to Purdue in the opening round of Big Ten play, 4-3.
The Boilermakers took the first point of the day, winning the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Team of Simen Bratholm and Ben Vandixhorn defeated Purdue's team of Franz Luna and Santiago Galan in the No. 3 position, 6-4.
The 'Cats quickly rebounded taking the first three points of singles play. At the No. 3 position, Junior Chris Ephron make quick work of his opponent, Maksymiliam Raupuk, 6-0, 6-2. Senior Jason Seidman continued his win streak at the No. 5 position, defeating Dominik Sochurek in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Junior Antonioni Fasano gave the 'Cats their third point of the day, defeating Mateo Julio in two, 6-4, 6-4.
Purdue took the next two sets at the No. 4 and 1 positions. At No. 6, first-year Trice Pickens, had a hard fought battle, taking it three sets before falling 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.
The 'Cats wrap up the tournament with a 14-14 record, 5-7 in Big Ten play,.
