
'Cats Sweep Rutgers, 7-0, in Big Ten Action

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. — No. 24 Northwestern improved to 4-0 in Big Ten play and 10-5 overall with a 7-0 shutout win over Rutgers Wednesday afternoon in New Jersey.
The Wildcats improved to 5-0 all-time against the Scarlet Knights.
Northwestern secured the doubles point thanks to wins by Inci Ogut and Rheeya Doshi at the No. 3 spot and Clarissa Hand and Lee Or at the No. 1 position. Ogut and Doshi earned a 6-3 decision, while Hand and Or teamed up for a 6-4 victory.
Julie Byrne collected her ninth dual singles victory of the spring with a 6-1, 6-3, win at No. 2 singles. Doshi put Northwestern ahead, 3-0, with a 6-3, 7-5, win at No. 5, while Carol Finke nabbed the clincher at No. 6 with a 7-6 (2-0), 0-1, retired, point.
Hand rallied for the win at No. 1 by defeating Maya Jacobs, 4-6, 6-0, 6-3. Or went the distance for the victory at No. 3 in the form of a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win, while Caroline Pozo completed the 7-0 sweep with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 decision.
Northwestern returns to action on Friday, March 29 with a noon match against Maryland at the Combe Tennis Center.
